We built Vitary around one gap: by the time a complaint is big enough for a diagnosis, the change behind it has been happening for years. It can be measured before then.
Why measuring, and not treating
Healthcare is built to act when something is wrong, and it is good at that. What it is not built for is the long stretch before that — the years in which fat quietly moves inward, muscle slowly goes and bone thins out, while every test you are offered still comes back normal.
That stretch is measurable. Not with a scale, which sees only a total, but with a scan that separates fat, muscle and bone and shows where they sit. That is the whole of what we do, and we would rather do that one thing properly than do more of it badly.
The name of the animal on this page is the bowhead whale. It lives over two hundred years, carries an enormous layer of fat, and stays metabolically robust throughout. Not proof of anything — a metaphor, and a reminder that fat and ageing are not a simple sum.
Two people, and you will meet both
There is no call centre and no rotating staff. The person who does your scan is the person who goes through the report with you.

What we are not
Vitary is not a medical facility and we are not your doctor. We do not diagnose, we do not treat and we do not prescribe. What we do is measure, and translate the result into what it means for how you eat, move and rest. If a scan turns out not to fit your situation, a physician says so before you come — and that is a useful outcome too.
